Nicholson's obelisk

Nicholson's obelisk is a monument in Pakistan, erected in 1868 in honour of one of the British Empire's greatest military heroes—Brigadier-General John Nicholson.

It is situated at the Tarnol pass of the Margalla Hills just outside the twin cities of Rawalpindi–Islamabad en route to the famous historical town of Taxila.

The granite obelisk, approximately 40 ft tall, stands on a rocky prominence overlooking the Grand Trunk Road connecting Islamabad with Peshawar.
